What's in the CIMC?
Textbooks
Both North Carolina State Approved Text Series and non-state approved texts are available in the Center.
Children's/Young Adult Literature
Although there are children's and young adult books in the curriculum a larger collection is housed on the 5th floor of the Library. This collection consists of books for children from preschool age through 12th grade. Most of the titles are award winning books or books which have been highly recommended by teachers and librarians for use with children and adolescents. It should be noted that many young adult tiltes are actually adult books. Titles which fall into this category are shelved in the general collection.
Magazines
The CIMC subscribes to approximately 30 children's magazines which are of interest to teachers. There are also several practical teacher's magazines located in the center. They can be found in designated file cabinets. They do not circulate.
NASA Collection
The CIMC has been designated as the North Carolina N ASA Regional Educator Resource Center. The collection consists of video cassettes, CD ROMs, DVDs and print material. This collection is available for preview by any educator in North or South Carolina. Upon request educators can have selected materials duplicated.
Interactive Multimedia/CD-ROMs
Consists of educational software programs which directly instructs students or is used by educators for instructional purposes such as drill-and-practice, tutorials, simulations, word processing applications, databases, problem solving programs and other utilities.
Video
This collection consists of over 300 video cassettes and DVDs.
Circulation Policy
CIMC materials circulate for three (3) weeks and should be checked out at the Collections Desk on the second floor of the library. Remember there are a limited number of materials and a large number of students who need them.
Please DO NOT take all the materials in one subject particularly at the secondary level where there are only a few titles for each subject.
Please Return materials Promptly.
