The Library welcomes gifts of books, journals,
and other resource materials. Acceptance of materials by the Library
is made on the basis of its collection development policy.
- The Library retains unconditional ownership of the gift.
- The Library determines the classification, housing, and
circulation policies of all gift items.
- The Library retains the right to dispose of donated materials as
it sees fit.
To protect both its donors and itself, the Library, as an
interested party, does not appraise gifts made to it. The appraisal of
a gift to the Library for tax purposes is the responsibility of the
donor.
The acceptance of a gift which has been appraised by a third, and
disinterested party, does not in any way imply an endorsement of the
appraisal by the Library.
